System Requirements

Filesystem

OpenSMS requires a DMAPI / XDSM enabled filesystem. Current candidates include XFS (SGI), JFS (IBM), VxFS (Veritas), HPFS (HP). Currently only XFS has been verified, with JFS support planned for 1Q05.

System OS Requirements

The OpenSMS code has been written with the intent of Posix compliant OS independence. Late-model Linux 2.4 and 2.6 kernels (with all required components) are fully supported.

If Using XFS

  • XFS filesystem with DMAPI / XDSM enabled
  • acl > 2.2.27-1
  • attr > 2.4.19-1
  • libacl > 2.2.27-1
  • libattr > 2.4.19-1
  • xfsprogs > 2.0.3
  • xfsdump > 2.0.1

If using TMS policy or metadata DB features

  • MySQL > 4.0.20 (if using TMS policy or metadata DB features)
  • Perl-DBI > 1.37.1

If doing development

  • attr > 2.4.19-1
  • libacl > 2.2.27-1
  • libattr.devel > 2.4.12-1
  • xfsprogs.devel > 2.6.0.0
